ABOUT

Rebecca Jean Marsh, signs as Becka Jean, received her Bachelor's in Fine Arts 3D Media from Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA, 2018.  She primarily works as a metalsmith, incorporating scrimshaw and preservation techniques to make wearable objects.  Though her focus is jewelry, she is experienced with and works in a variety of media, such as painting, drawing, printmaking, murals, glass, welding, fabric-work, and clay.  Her work is highly conceptual, dealing with aspects of ethics and irrational ideologies.  A critique of religion is a common motif in her work.

Becka has been an active member of SNAG since 2016, President of the Jodee Harris Gallery Committee 2016-2018, and Assistant to the Director in STAMPED 2016-17.  She has worked as a gallery assistant in the Chautauqua VACI Galleries and as a VSR at the Westmoreland American Art Museum.  Currently, Becka is pursuing her Master's of Arts in Curatorial Practice at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and plans to graduate in 2020.
